Dewa Athena

Dewa Athena

Dewa Athena is an event in SMAN 3 Bandung where the students could participate in many sport competition. The competition system  is not competing for themselves, but for their own class. So, each class should participate and race each other. There was a lot of games we played, such as badminton, football, basketball, dodgeball, chess, relay race, volley ball, and gobak sodor. Dewa Athena was joined by 10 and 11 grader.

This event was opened in the Volley Ball of Lapangan Bali in Bali street. It was officially opened by Mr. Encang. He was our headmaster. We saw the release of balloon with Dewa Athena logo, as the sign that this even had been started.

Then, we ran together around the street near SMAN 3 Bandung. The route ended in Lapangan Bali again. After that, the competition was begun! It’s time to show them  our ability! Let’s fight for that glory, X IPA 8!!!!!!!

On the first day, Thursday 10th March

The first match for us was Gobak sodor VS X IPA 4. To win this game, we must pass the opponent who block us guardedly in the line. The team which has more survivor until finish line is the winner. This match was pretty hard and challenging because most of us played it for the first time. But fortunately, we won this match in the third round (rubber game)!!!

The second match was female badminton VS X IPA 7. Our class was represented by Adisya and Namira. I watched this game. They really enjoyed each strike to the shuttlecock. And our class won again!!!

After that, our class sent our representation for relay race. They were Willy and Fahri. Undoubtly, they were the best runner in our class. But, at the match, they unfortunately a little bit slipped. It was our first defeat in Dewa Athena.

Then, we played tug of war against X IPA 7. I didn’t play in this match because  there were a lot of stronger player in my class. This match was very exciting. Our solidarity somehow spread out till our bones (hyperbole, hahaha). What a unbelievable match!!! With sweat and blood (some participants’ hand were injured) we won this game!!!!!

Afterwards, our class sent some players for female football match vs XI IPA 1. In this match, victory was ours.

Later, Naafi and me played badminton vs X IPA 5.I was a bit nervous because I didn’t play badminton for about a year. But, with our compactness that had been built since junior high, we could win this game without any serious problems and difficulties. (Naafi and me used to play double in badminton extracurricular at junior high school.

After some break, our male football team played against XI IPA 2. I was included in the starting line up. Our opponent was the 2nd winner of BM league. We had to play carefully because they might have very dangerous counter attack and strong ball keeping. On the first half, we could make some threat for their defense. But we had to concede one goal from them.

On the second half, we did some rotation. Erlangga substituted me. We played more aggressive, but we conceded for their second goal instead. Finally we lost 2-0. That game was good, all we needed just more experience.

The last game for our class on that day was female dodgeball. This game is about to throw the ball to the opponent’s body. It was indoor game. Our opponent was X IPA 7. And again, the triumph was in our side!!!!!!!

Dewa Athena Day 2, Friday, 11th March 2016

First match was male dodgeball vs XI IPA 5. We won this game and stepped to the next stage.

Second match was volley ball vs XI IPA 8. Hmmm exciting derby 8. Who’s the best? Wow, our class won! Good game mates. I thought, man of the match was Kevin Lee, apparently he’s volley ball athlete since elementary school.

The third match was chess vs X IPA 3. Akbar played for our class. We all knew that he’s the best chess player in X IPA 8, even maybe in X grade. He played very well and we won.

The fourth match was basketball. Our basketball team consisted of 3 males and 2 females.

The fifth match and also as the last match on that day for our class was tug of war vs X IPA 2. The majority of our player was same with tug of war at first day, only  two players were substituted as starter. We won this game! Hurray! We won all matches today!

Dewa Athena Day 3, Saturday, 12th March 2016

We played gobak sodor and we won.

Then, Naafi and me played badminton vs X IPA 2 and we won again.

The third match was chess vs XI IPA 5. Ghifari played for our class because at the same moment, Akbar played tug of war. Ghifari is also a good player. After Akbar finished tug of war, he changed Ghifari. Akbar was tired, so he couldn’t be focus. He still did it well, but he did one fatal movement that made his opponent won. That’s OK bro, just unlucky.

In tug war, we played against X IPA 7 and we won. Farhan's hand was injured very badly.

The next match was female badminton vs X IPA 9, and we won this game also.

This winning was also followed by our female football team, which successfully defeated X IPA 3. But after that, we got three consecutive lost. It was female dodgeball, male badminton, and basketball. The last game was female badminton vs X IPA 6 and we won.

Dewa Athena Day 4, Thursday, 31st March 2016

After long break, Dewa Athena was continued again. Today was the final match of male dodgeball, X IPA 8 vs XI IPA 6.

The game was full of pressure. I had to say that this game was unfair. The enemy team made a lot of provocation along the match. At the first round we won, but after that they began to be emotional. We played normally and didn’t care with their anger. It wasn’t because we were afraid, but because we knew that fire shouldn’t be opposed by fire too. Finally we lost, but we lost honorably.

Dewa Athena Day 5, Saturday, 2nd April 2016

Today was the last day for X IPA 8 in Dewa Athena. We would play this final volley match vs XI IPA 5 at 1 pm. But the it rained heavily, so the match delayed for about 3-4 hours. At around 4.30 pm, the match started. It was a very great. Our team got many point from deadly service ball by Kevin Lee.

But we our team didn’t only rely on him. Our other players also played incredibly flawless. Both teams were chasing on point. In the last round, the game was very equal. I thought both of the teams were already winner. The deuce point happened 4 times, until that breathtaking moment when Kevin Lee serviced the ball and it’s in. We were the champion!!!!! Yippieee! All of us were in euphoria.

Dewa Athena VIII is really fun. Thanks my friends, X IPA 8! It’s unforgettable for me.
